About Us

We're Jill and Philip Fields. We both worked at the FBI as Intelligence Analysts. In 2025 we took the Deferred Resignation, or Fork in the Road. We never thought that we would leave our dream jobs. We dedicated our lives to public service, but our morals and ethics were pushed to the limit. It was time to take the road less travelled.

After taking the Deferred Resignation, we felt very alone. Soon we started seeing and hearing stories from other federal employees who had left government service. Through these stories, we saw common threads, such as wanting to help others, anxiety over leaving dream jobs, and questions about what comes next.

We created Forking Off to share these stories and support this community of former feds finding their new paths.
