Jordan Mathews' intrigue for traveling the world led her to serve with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic before studying abroad for two years in Uppsala, Sweden, as a Rotary Peace Fellow. Impacted by the events of January 6, 2021, Jordan felt called to come back to the United States to put her conflict resolution training to work. As a Presidential Management Fellow, Jordan joined the Department of Justice Community Relations Service, America's Peacemaker, where she found her dream job.

In April 2025, Jordan took the second offer of the deferred resignation program, or "Fork in the Road," bringing her career as a civil servant to an abrupt end. With Jordan's departure, America lost a future leader bound to motivate and inspire generations of public servants with her global perspective and compassion.

But Jordan's story doesn't stop there. Since leaving federal service Jordan took her power back and started The Fed Up on Substack where she's saying the true thing out loud and building community. Jordan is also hosting workshops, starting with "An Inside Job: Writing Your (True) Story and Why That Matters."

Jordan was one of the first former feds that we connected with after the deferred resignation. Jordan's courage and convictions are an inspiration for everyone to speak up and say the true thing out loud. We hope you enjoy hearing Jordan's story as much as we did. Connect with Jordan on LinkedIn.

New Justice Department Policy Cracks Down on Social Media Posts

Sarah N. Lynch, Reuters, April 15, 2025

"The new policy represents another unwarranted attack on DOJ employees - one that stifles their free speech in their private lives and creates new ways for the administration to oust career public servants who don't toe the party line," said Young.
